„Engel im Sinkflug“ entstand unter dem Eindruck der Ereignisse in Europa im Zuge der Flüchtlingsbewegungen im Herbst 2015. Songwriter Andreas Stangl widmete das Lied dem Dokumentarfilmprojekt „3400 Semmeln“ von Heinz Trenczak, das damals gerade im Entstehen war. Die Aufnahmesessions mit Sängerin Irina Karamarkovic, Posaunist und Trompeter Dominik Kreuzer und der Band ILMALA fanden exklusiv für den Film statt. Dabei ebenfalls aufgenommen wurde eine englische Fassung sowie mehrere Versionen des musikalischen Songthemas für den Soundtrack.

Songwriter Andreas Stangl wrote „Angel Shot Down“ during the European refugee crisis in autumn 2015. The song was dedicated to the documentary movie project „3400 Semmeln” by filmmaker Heinz Trenczak. “Angel Shot Down” was recorded exclusively for the film with singer Irina Karamarkovic, trombone and trumpet player Dominik Kreuzer as well as Stangl’s own band, ILMALA. The song was recorded both in German and in English. Also recorded at the same session were musical cues for the soundtrack, based on the musical theme of the song.
